WomenCentre’s 40th Anniversary!

 

This year marks 40 years of WomenCentre. That’s 40 years of supporting women and their children in our local area.

Throughout 2025 we’re aiming to raise more awareness of our fantastic support services, share inspiring stories, as well as to raise much needed funds to help us to continue the work we do supporting women in our local community.

We’ve got exciting plans for 2025, so watch this space for lots of 40th anniversary celebrations.

What’s happening in 2025?

 

We are planning lot’s of celebration, outreach and community events in this year to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Keep an eye on our events page and our social media to find out what’s on.

Our 40th Celebration Service at Halifax Minster on 15th June 2025

On Sunday 15th June we held a celebration service at Halifax Minster. The service included stories, poetry, prayers and quotes read by our founder members, Ambassadors, The Mothers Union, The Soroptomists, members of Calderdale Interfaith Council with music and song performed by women from Verd De Gris Arts. WomenCentre would like to thank the Bishop of Huddersfield and all at Halifax Minster for a wonderful and memorable service. We thank both the Mayor of Calderdale and the Mayor of Kirklees for joing us and the Deputy Lieutenant, Nicky Chance-Thompson. 

 

6th Feb 2025 – Our official anniversary!

On Thursday 6th Feb 2025 we celebrated our official anniversary with two events:

In the morning in Halifax women gathered at the Piece Hall with their umbrellas to spell out the number 40!

And in the afternoon over in Huddersfield, women gathered to sing at St Georges Square – 40 voices for 40 years.
