Hi. I’m Sue, one half of the instructors for Healing Moves. The other half is Keith, who’s been my instructor since I took up Taekwondo. We love coming to the WomenCentre to teach the class each week. Firstly it’s a really good laugh and secondly it’s great to see people gaining confidence in their self-defence skills whilst having fun with other women in a safe space.

I had the idea for Healing Moves after feeling the benefits of taking up Taekwondo myself 6 years ago. I didn’t realise then that it would also help me recover from childhood trauma and sexual abuse. Talking therapy is really important but I didn’t realise that physical recovery is just as important until recently.

I’m so glad that we’re able to offer Healing Moves in Halifax to share the benefits of self-defence classes with more people. We get great feedback from the class – mainly it’s a chance to take a break from the normal routine and have fun whilst learning a really valuable skill.

We’d love more people to come and give it a try as we have spaces at the moment. We’re a really friendly group. If you think you’d like to have fun and increase your confidence then come along on Wednesdays in school term time at 10:30-12:00.

Hope to see you there!
